A Brief History of the School

2018-07-30 15.21.51More than forty years ago a group of like-minded parents and educators discussed ideas for a better way to educate their children.  They desired a holistic approach, agreeing on the importance of not only academic but emotional and social growth as well.  The Growing Concern Private Montessori School was born out of these meetings.  A space was located and rented in the Jackson Township Municipal Building, and the school officially opened its doors to the public in September of 1978.  Barbara and David Gumpper along with Deborah Forrester were instrumental in the early success of the school.  For ten years the Growing Concern continued to grow at its original location.  In 1988 the doors to a beautiful newly-built school were opened, offering spacious classrooms and an idyllic location.
